ELPAT Proficiency
Thermo Scientific NITON® XLi and XLp 300 Series XRF
analyzers are the only handheld instruments that can perform
lead-in-paint measurement and demonstrate proficiency in the
Environmental Lead Proficiency Analytical Testing (ELPAT)
Program. Based on the patented L and K Shell technology that
also gives it the premier lead-in-paint Performance
Characteristic Sheet (PCS), a well-trained user will excel
at a number of sample matrices, including paint, soil, and
dust sample. With minimal sample preparation, the NITON analyzer gets the job done when fast, accurate results are
required.
Passing ELPAT is the first and probably the most important step in becoming an
accredited laboratory; Thermo Fisher Scientific’s NITON Analyzers business unit
has a proven track record with demonstrated proficiency for dozens and dozens of
rounds of testing. When this analytical prowess is combined with good laboratory
procedures that meet the regulatory requirements, NITON XLi or XLp 300 Series
XRF analyzers can effectively be used in a National Voluntary Laboratory
Accreditation Program (NVLAP).
Use the XLi or XLp to pass lead floor dust wipes of less than 40 ug/ft2 or check
residential soils for lead at less than 400 ppm. With detection limits at least
10 times lower than regulatory standards, these instruments can easily handle
the job. Make homes and jobsites safer, and do it more efficiently. Public
health agencies can extend the reach of their limited budgets in an efficient
manner, while private enterprises can enjoy more profit by not just doing the
lead-in-paint inspection, but by performing the entire pre-abatement and
post-abatement analytical regulatory requirements.
