QA/QC in Metal Fabrication

NITON XL3 SeriesMaterial verification for alloy quality assurance and alloy quality control (alloy QA/QC) are critical to product safety. The potential for material mix-ups and the need for traceability are a concern at every step in the manufacturing process:

  • Primary metal production
  • Metal service center
  • Component fabrication
  • Final product assembly
Wrong or out-of-specification metal alloys can lead to premature and potentially catastrophic part failures that can be expensive, damaging to your reputation, and, sometimes, result in loss of life.

Alloy QA/QC with Thermo Scientific Niton XRF Analyzers

Unfortunately, relying on supplier documentation cannot give you the peace of mind you deserve.  The current emphasis on ISO certifications and 100% quality testing, and an increased regulatory environment demands finding and correcting any and all material discrepancies. That’s why, when livelihoods, profitability and liability depend on using the right alloy, choose handheld Thermo Scientific Niton x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers for your alloy QA/QC.

Thousands of companies using applications for the aerospacefoundry, and pharmaceutical (verification/validation) industries rely daily on our instruments for material verification. Benefits include:

  • Instant positive alloy grade identification
  • Detailed part chemistry
  • High-throughput – increased productivity
  • Nondestructive – test finished product with confidence
  • Reduced scrap and rework – recover lost traceability in seconds
  • Laboratory-quality composition analysis
  • Real-time, traceable results – not questionable paperwork
  • Fast, simple reporting and certificate generation

Reliable Positive Material Identification (PMI) Methods

Your need for fast, reliable positive material identification should be clear.  Just as clear are the benefits your business can realize from using Niton® XL2 and Niton XL3 handheld XRF analyzers - now available with groundbreaking GOLDD technology.

When the job calls for alloy grade identification,  the Niton XL2 is your value choice.  Finally, there's no need to sacrifice performance to get a lightweight, rugged tool for alloy grade ID that is perfectly matched to most applications.  Should the need arise for even better performance, isolation & analysis of welds and very small samples, or greater flexibility with your analytical needs, the Niton XL3 is your choice for a wide array of standard and available options.  And if you require lab-quality performance in your handheld XRF analyzer, the Niton XL3 with GOLDD technology is the performance leader of the bunch.Contact us for a Free demonstration today

Point-and-Shoot Simplicity

Point-and-shoot operation is truly a reality with these innovative XRF analyzers. With just a short test, alloy grade and chemistry appear on the built-in color touch-screen display. Testing time is often one to two seconds for routine alloy QA/QC, and just a few seconds longer for lab-quality chemistry. Typically, little or no sample preparation is necessary for alloy samples with relatively clean surfaces, regardless of shape or size. Just touch the analyzer to the sample and with the brief trigger pull, you can measure:

  • A single strand of 1 mm wire
  • Finished weld beads
  • Rods
  • Bolts
  • Plates
  • Completed fabricated assemblies
